Fiorization of The Risk Assessment Process

Written by LeverX Team | Jan 31, 2023 2:59:00 PM

LeverX was responsible for expanding the customer’s software functionalities, including dedicated panels for risk analysis. The existing functionality was revised and enhanced in accordance with the Fiori concept.

Customer

A multinational energy corporation.

Challenge

The customer needed a trusted software system capable of helping risk analysts work with future price forecasts based on available market data. SAP was chosen as a single provider. LeverX, SAP’s long-term partner with outstanding experience in the field, was responsible for seamless software integration and Fiorization of the risk assessment process.

Solution

Design brainstorming sessions allowed LeverX to identify customer’s precise business needs and develop a fully customized business intelligence and analytics application. The Fiori design concept supplemented it with a modern, user-friendly interface.

Challenge

The customer initiated a massive program to modernize its software and migrate to a single provider for all processes: SAP. Most applications in SAP standards are Fiori applications, and consistency across applications is one of the basic principles of Fiori. New applications also had to align with the Fiori concept. Given the extensive expertise in the field, LeverX was involved in new developments.

The main goal was to create a robust system to help risk analysts work with future price forecasts based on available market data. The system had to cover the client solution's existing functionality and fill in the current gaps. The main challenge was to make it clear to the client that Fiori applications could perform all their business tasks on an entirely different efficiency level and simultaneously provide the best user experience.

Solution

LeverX’s experts applied the Fiori design concept to existing business processes. The dedicated team conducted several design thinking workshops with SAP design thinking coaches and client business representatives to identify business needs and work with them to find the best way to meet clients' expectations. As a part of the risk analyst routine processes’ Fiorization, LeverX’s team developed several Fiori applications to identify and proactively respond to risks and opportunities.

Project Scope

At the customer's request, LeverX conducted an independent review of the existing framework, strategy, and process for managing risk in the company. We provided our professional opinion on the results and recommended further steps that should be taken to enhance and improve the foundations for risk management.

With that said, the customer needed a full-fledged business intelligence and analytics application with a modern and user-friendly interface. Moreover, the software required simplified business workflows with streamlined screens and interactions, delivering a better user experience with a consumer-grade UI.

Project Results

We interviewed leaders and staff members of the system functionality to identify the overall Fiorization planning process, the development of scenarios, and the effectiveness and evolution of the planned system capabilities.

During design thinking sessions, LeverX experts uncovered hidden inefficiencies in the existing business processes, allowing them to develop precise user experience metrics. With such predefined metrics and established risk tolerance levels, risk analysts can better control risk-taking activities, thus evaluating and enhancing risk management.

LeverX employed a design methodology centered on actual users and their roles instead of existing monolithic processes. In the new Fiori app, the following functions are possible:

        • Users can see a list of specific indicators, filter-based on defined criteria.
        • Users can identify any indicator by specifying the pricing services, products, and locations, so there is no need to look up the related technical ID.
        • It is possible to find pricing services, products, and locations for which a specific indicator has yet to be created.
        • Users can edit, copy and display such indicators.
        • Responsible managers can audit any changes in the system.
        • It is possible to simulate risks and load results.
        • Everyone can add comments to documents on any change applied to an indicator.

Although the customer had initial concerns about the possibility of business processes' disclosure, Fiori’s demo version has demonstrated its relevance and necessity.

As a result, users agreed that the new applications fully perform business tasks while having a clear, convenient, and satisfactory interface.
