LeverX has improved the performance of the customer's current SAP MRS system. The configuration and development done by our team allowed the client to increase labor efficiency and achieve optimum resource planning.

Customer

A large steel manufacturing and mining company and one of the biggest steel producers.

Challenge

The customer had difficulties achieving their business goals due to poor planning, system misconfiguration, and underperformance. LeverX's mission was to audit the SAP MRS solution integrated with the customer IT infrastructure. The solution assists with the planning and distribution of human and productive resources.

Our Contribution

After analyzing the already implemented SAP MRS solution, the LeverX team proposed to change the solution architecture and create three servers instead of one. In their existing setup, one system was used to create, maintain, and change orders, as well as for planning. We implemented a scalable solution to transition to a new system landscape, reducing the load on the current system while avoiding third-party solutions when planning repairs.

Project Scope

Our team configured and implemented SAP MRS to solve the following issues:

  • To obtain reliable information on working hours for technical maintenance, equipment inspection, and repair by performers (shop-floor maintenance personnel, maintenance department personnel)
  • To obtain reliable information on working hours for technical maintenance, equipment inspection, and repair by teams
  • To configure capacity leveling
  • To establish a repair schedule

Moreover, the LeverX team integrated the developed solution with a mobile app based on SAP Work Manager, as well as with the MRO module.

Functional Scope Of The Project

Our team helped the customer:

  • To configure a detailed planning dashboard (by resources) based on the current maintenance and inspection tasks from SAP ERP MRO;
  • To configure preliminary planning dashboard (by workplaces);
  • To configure capacity leveling by workplaces of the shop-floor personnel, maintenance department personnel, and contractors;
  • To generate reporting forms directly from the planning dashboard.

Results

SAP MRS system configuration, transition to a new system landscape, and further developments provided the following options for the customer:

  • Quick access to detailed information on working hours reserved for technical maintenance, equipment inspection, and repair (both by an individual performer and the entire team);
  • Capacity leveling that helps avoid overloading resources;
  • Access to a complete picture of planned works;
  • Changing basic order terms in the SAP MRS planning dashboard;
  • Monitoring task performance;
  • The detailed repair scheduling.

These modifications improved the speed and quality of work and helped reduce repair costs.
