LeverX successfully implemented new role-based HR software with a device-independent interface, thus saving internal resources and reducing the time required for onboarding and new employees’ adaptation.
An international corporation with over 90,000 employees located all over the world.
The customer was wasting a lot of resources due to legacy HR software. New employees’ onboarding and training were taking an unacceptably long time. Moreover, it wasn’t mobile-friendly, severely restricting business growth and hiring opportunities.
LeverX developed Fiori-based applications that significantly helped speed up HR business processes. New apps were adaptive and user-friendly, which allowed users to understand how to work with them intuitively.
The customer needed a solution that provided multi-step transactions where traceability and visibility were required. The existing HR software was very complex and needed to meet new demands. Therefore, training new employees took an unacceptable amount of time. It was necessary to optimize processes to reduce training costs.
The main goal was to achieve more streamlined and consistent workflows by embedding a device-independent software interface. Nowadays, not all work takes place in the office. Therefore, the ability to run applications both on a desktop computer and mobile devices was crucial.
It quickly became clear that the SAP GUI previously used by the customer's employees needed to be replaced by a newer and better one.
Given the legacy software functionality, the overall transaction process was time-consuming and incurred a significant ongoing expense. Moreover, it no longer met general employment efficiency standards. Manual and repetitive processes overloaded the employees. The outdated system user interface didn’t handle massive internal transactions and wasn’t role-based, so it was unmanageable for the users. It took two years of diligent work to implement the project, mainly using ABAP and SAPUI5.
Extensive analysis of existing business processes and their further adaptation to the principles of Fiori (Fiorization) brought significant benefits in cost reductions due to the reduced time required for onboarding and new employees’ adaptation. The LeverX dedicated team of experts gathered the requirements for the different user groups in design workshop rounds to ensure smooth Fiorization across all new interfaces.
Subsequently, the existing solutions faced a step-by-step replacement, so the new Fiori applications gradually became embedded in the current system. The testing period included a group of 1200 users, and the number of involved users increased to 80.000.
Following the stated requirements for a role-based system, users see only the Fiori Apps related to their role. Therefore, employees will see only the functionality required for their specific roles. These lightweight, simple, and user-friendly apps provide fast onboarding and a pleasant user experience.
Apart from additional visualization types and more data-source connectivity, the newly implemented system capabilities allowed for the following:
In addition to an easily adaptive and user-friendly interface, the HR module Fiorization allows employees to request their preferences, which are taken into account when their schedules are assigned. The entire app workflow consists of five different processes based on the type of time data involved (working time, vacation, holidays, and so on) at various points in the calendar year (annually, quarterly, etc.).
After implementation, employees were grouped according to these processes, and one or more persons may now be responsible for managing and maintaining one or more of these groups.
The newly developed Fiori apps fulfilled everything stated in the original plan and more, and the client was satisfied with the results. Thanks to Fiori’s easy-to-understand interface and advanced functionality, the company’s HR department is now more capable of reducing manual transaction and administration efforts. Instead, HR team members are liberated from most of the routine inquiries and manual data entry and can focus on value-generating tasks.
The company’s employees were also satisfied with the advanced features, which facilitated the vacation, weekend, and time reporting process and made interfaces more intuitive.
